The honest read on this map

The City of Ocala overall is in the 12th percentile nationally for safety — most of that crime is property, not violent. The map makes the geography visible: NE and NW city core (34470/34475) carry the most weight; master-planned and equestrian zips (34481/34482/34476) are materially lower.

Caveat: Zip-level aggregates can hide block-level variation. If you're considering a specific street, the $49 personalized report includes a neighborhood-level crime breakdown.

Ocala crime map: the questions you actually asked.

How does the Ocala crime map work?
The crime map plots aggregate crime rates for each Ocala / Marion County zip code on an interactive Leaflet map. Click any zip to see the underlying FBI UCR 2024 and FDLE FIBRS 2024 numbers (violent crime, property crime, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and the year-over-year murder change).
What zip codes have the most crime in Ocala?
34470 (NE Ocala) and 34475 (NW city) are the highest-concern zip codes in the metro and drive most of the City of Ocala's elevated property-crime numbers. The 12th-percentile city safety score reflects these two zips heavily.
What zip codes have the least crime in Ocala?
34481 (SW master-planned, including On Top of the World, Stone Creek, and Calesa Township), 34482 (NW equestrian corridor / Golden Ocala / WEC), and 34474 (SW suburbs) report meaningfully lower crime than the city core. Master-planned communities with private security and gates skew the numbers further down.
Where does the crime map data come from?
Crime data is sourced from the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting program (UCR) for 2024, supplemented with Florida Department of Law Enforcement FIBRS 2024 data for Marion County. We refresh the dataset annually after the FBI publishes the year-end aggregates (typically late summer).
How current is the crime map data?
The dataset reflects calendar-year 2024 incidents, the most recent year for which FBI UCR data has been published nationally. The 2025 calendar year data will become available after FBI publication, typically in late summer 2026, at which point we update the map.
